Billions of humans
Countless other beings
Be devoted to them all, the masters say
None are strangers
Throughout many lives
All have shown you kindness
Cherish them equally.
Stunned by the math
I choke and stammer
It’s not something I can do
Precisely, they say smiling
Drop the “I” and get on with it
There really is no other way
You must get over you.
